Security Tag System

A security tag system refers to sensor tags, hard tags, paper tags, and security labels that can normally be found on clothes in retail outlets. These security tags are used to alert retailers if any of the protected clothing is being removed from their stores.

We are all very familiar with the security tags that are placed on items of clothing. We all know that if we were to leave a store without paying for our goods that these tags would set off the alarms. What we don’t know, is how these security tags actually work.

In order for a security tag system to work it must be part of an electronic article surveillance system. This system consists of three security system components, a detection system which is located at the entrance and exit of the retail outlet that will alarm if a security tag is removed from the store. The second component is the security tag. This is attached to the item that is to be protected against theft. There are many different types of security tags and the most popular ones are, thumbtack or hard tag devices and soft tag devices.

The third component is the tag detacher. This is the device that is used to remove the security tag when the item is being purchased. There are two types of tag detachers, the hard tag detacher, and the soft tag deactivator. The hard tag detacher is a machine that is used to remove the pin from the hard tag, whilst the soft tag deactivator is a machine that is used to turn off the soft tag.

An electronic article surveillance tag equipment system is vital in preventing shoplifting and is something that is found is almost every retail outlet worldwide. By using these systems retailers can greatly reduce the amount of theft and profit loss that can be a major cause of stress.
